In so many homes, the temperature the thermostat is at, is usually not agreed on by everyone in the house. The people who pay the electric bill may want it at a temperature that uses less money. Other people may want it colder. Then there is the people who are always cold, and want it hotter.

Is there an actual perfect setting though?

Well, kind of.

  • The has been a lot of discussion on super cooling and how that works by cooling your home way down in the night.
  • There is other people who swear by turning the temperature up past 80 degrees in the summer when they are gone, and then turning it cooler when they get home OR if the have a WiFi thermostat, adjusting the temperature shortly before returning home.
  • Some people actually turn the entire system OFF when not at home.
  • Then there are others who keep it at the same temperature all the time.

SO WHAT IS THE BEST METHOD?

Well, everyone has their own opinions. What we recommend is to leave the system at a comfortable temperature al of the time, so not to let the house heat up. When the house heats up, it takes more energy to cool it down because not only does the air need cooled down, but everything needs cooled down. When your house is warm, your furniture absorbs that warmth, your carpet absorbs that heat as well as all other objects that will need to cool down.

By leaving the temperature at a reasonable setting, the entire home stays at a level temperature, so there isn’t that time and your system working harder to cool everything back down. When your system works harder to cool everything down, it runs longer because it’s not just maintaining a temperature– it is adjusting the hot air to cool it.
