Summer is Phoenix Arizona is to say the least, an experience! The triple digit temperatures have a way of making us focus on our A/C in an entirely new light than when it is 70 degrees outside.

The A/C system has been referred to as the heart of your home.

The A/C system can also be one of the most expensive appliances in your home to replace. When your A/C is working as it should, everything is great. When your A/C starts to have problems, not cooling like it used to, making weird noises or even worse– stops working entirely, pandemonium strikes in the house.

Summer heat without A/C can also be life threatening, which adds to the stress when the A/C stops working. The good news is there is ways you can help prevent a mechanical breakdown in the middle of summer by doing a few things.

1- WASH DOWN YOUR OUTSIDE UNITS WITH A HOSE. When there is dust storms or other contaminates that get into the outside condenser coils, the air is not able to move as freely as when there was no restriction. By hosing off your outdoor units, you are helping to clear away anything that may be blocking airflow– causing your system to work harder. *We also offer a professional coil cleaning that is more extensive that just a hose wash, if you are interested. Residential High Efficiency Particulate Air Filters. Carbon Activated Base and HEPA. Fighting Air Pollution Inside Home.

2- CHANGE YOUR INDOOR AIR FILTER(S) AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH. The same principle of restricted air flow applies here. If your indoor air filters are dirty, you system is working harder to pull air that if they were clean and unrestricted. You can use any air filter you like, but we recommend the lighter and thinner ones that are meant to be changed often. Also, after every storm you may want to take a look at your air filters.

3- HAVE REGULAR ANNUAL/BIANNUAL MAINTENANCE DONE. We offer service plans that are usually only $10/month! What regular maintenance does, is looking at and checking on all parts and components. Tests are ran to see where amps are at as well as capacitor levels. There are several points that are checked in a maintenance that can usually predict before a part is ready to fail. One of our most common calls where the A/C stopped cooling on the hottest day in July is a bad capacitor. With regular maintenance this is usually seen beforehand, so you can replace before it breaks and will not experience the outage.

BEEN THINKING ABOUT REPLACING FOR A WHILE?

Now is the perfect time to have that conversation about possibly replacing vs. continual repairs.

if you system is more than 10-15 year sold, and you have been experiencing repairs for the past few summers, now — before summer hits is the perfect time to have conversations about new system replacement options.
